OUR WORLD ARE OUR FRIENDS BLESSING

B: Bedrocks of our life are the close relationships we have with friends and family.
L: Love and respect are usually features of family ties, while love or strong like, respect and compatibility are usually the reasons why friendships continue.
E: Effort is key in maintaining close family ties and friendships.
S: Support is what we expect from family and our close friends and what we bring to the table too.
S: Society expects us to keep in contact with family, but friends may be our true loves because we find them to be compatible with our likes and dislikes.

Y: You are not alone if you think both family and friends are equally important. You are right – they are and we need both for completely satisfying living.
O: Our family and our friends are like two pillars in our life and we need both.
U: Underpinning our upbringing are family members who acted as our guides and supporters, while friends add more color to our life and good friends may also guide and support us.

Birds of a feather flock together
This expression is a reminder that we usually have friends that are like us – we have similar interests, similar outlooks and common interests that make us want to have contact in some way. Friends are the family we choose.

CHOICE
Friendship is a choice. In Western culture, some aspects of family is also a choice such as choosing one’s spouse.

BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER OR IS IT?
In modern society, friends are often more important than family. Although many do keep family ties going as well – at least between parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters. The most meaningful moments often comes because of connections with friends and family.

1. Chilling, hanging – you can’t feel lonely when your friends are nearby.

2. Honing communication. Our communicative and social skills are being practised, reinforced and improved upon. Social prowess it is called.

4. Sharing goals. From ideas goals develop. Friends can help you work towards and realize your goals.

9. Discipling one another. Nicely done we can keep our friends on track, if they appreciate that.

HOW GOOD A FRIEND ARE YOU?
One possible disadvantage of friendship is that you have to make time for friendship – are you willing and prepared to do that?  Think of the consequences – without friends, it is almost impossible to live a fully meaningful existence.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE?
If you really want a totally meaningful life then you should care about your friends and being a good friend. Look at the 10 benefits of friendship and think what you have done today to further your friendships.
